                              WEDDING CHECKLIST

 

 

Nine to Twelve Months Before

 

v     Announce engagement. Order  engagement/wedding rings    Order engravings

v     Set a date for wedding/reception

v     Set an initial budget   Meet with parents and discuss type of wedding/division of wedding expenses

v     Consider hiring a Wedding Planner/Concierge Service

v     Select and book ceremony location   Review facility requirements   Decide who will officiate

v     Select and book reception location

v     Choose and book a caterer if the reception location does not provide one

v     Choose a music venue  Book early as they fill their calendar schedules quickly

v     Start guest list and compile addresses

v     Set aside a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests and choose wedding suite

v     Mail save-the-date notices for a destination wedding

v     If your wedding ceremony or reception will be held in a park or recreational area, obtain the necessary permits

v     Choose a color theme

v     Shop for wedding dress, headpiece, veil, and accessories

v     Choose bridal attendants 

v     Book a photographer, videographer, entertainment

v     Choose a florist and discuss flower arrangements

v     Create a bridal registry

 

Six to Nine Months Before

 

v     Shop for attendant’s attire

v     Order tuxedos for groom, men attendants, fathers of the Bride and Groom

v     Complete and finalize guest list

v     Order invitations and wedding stationary. Order napkins for reception

v     Meet with a travel agent to plan honeymoon and travel accommodations

v     Order wedding cake if not done so with caterer

v     Groom’s parents plan and book rehearsal dinner facility

v     Arrange for ceremony and reception transportation

v     Meet with music venue to plan music selections

v     Mail out “Save the Date” cards to guests

v     Have engagement pictures taken

Four to Six Months Before

 

v     Check State requirements for marriage license

v     Decide post wedding address

v     Have physical examinations and update immunizations

v     Send engagement picture and announcement to advertising media

v     Decide when and where gift opening will occur

v     Order mother’s dresses

v     Finalize Honeymoon travel plans    Obtain passports, if needed

v     Order  ice carvings

v     Reserve rental items

 

 

Two to Four Months Before

 

 

v     Address invitations or hire a Calligrapher

v     Mail invitations with hotel and travel accommodation information. Include maps to locations if needed

v     Invite out of town guests early

v     Have fittings for Wedding Dress, attendant’s dresses, tuxedos    Order shoes 

v     Plan and order wedding decorations and ceremony accessories

v     Confirm menu/beverages for reception. Schedule tasting

v     Confirm wedding cake details. Schedule tasting

v     Design and have wedding programs printed

v     Delegate responsibilities to individuals for wedding and reception

v     Finalize plans for all ceremonies, receptions, travel accommodations, and rehearsal dinner

v     Choose and order gifts for attendants, parents, and helpers

v     Make appointments with hairdresser and/or make-up professionals

v     Purchase trousseau and wedding dress undergarments

 

 

Three Weeks to One Month Before

 

v     Buy gift for Bride/Groom

v     Schedule and finalize all fittings for wedding dress, attendants, and tuxedos

v     Pick up wedding rings

v     Confirm details with helpers and wedding professionals

v     Contact guests who have not responded

v     Give final guest count to rehearsal location, caterer and cake decorator

v     Confirm and finalize all honeymoon travel plans

v     Get marriage license

v     Make arrangements to have wedding gifts moved to your new home

v     Start name changes, address changes, magazine and correspondence changes.

v     Have studio wedding portraits taken

v     Send thank you notes for early gifts

v     Update gift registry, if needed

 

 

Two Weeks Before

 

v     Schedule a time with your hairdresser to style your hair as it will be for wedding day  Bring your veil with you!

v     Meet with photographer for make up and styling tips

v     Buy travelers checks for honeymoon

v     Confirm and finalize all details with wedding professionals

v     Review reception seating   

v     Confirm hotel reservations for out of town guests

v     Pay all remaining balances due for wedding expenses

v     Arrange for wedding gown and bouquet preservation after wedding

v     Start packing for honeymoon

v     Plan for last minute glitches!

 

 

48 Hours before Wedding

 

v     Pick up tuxedos

v     Make a wedding day schedule and give copies to everyone at rehearsal dinner

v     Give attendant’s/parent’s gifts at the rehearsal dinner

v     Get a massage to unwind and relax

v     Have nails done

v     Go to sleep early the day before wedding

 

 

 

Day of Wedding

 

v     Have hair and make-up done

v     Allow time to get dressed and get to ceremony site

v     Take marriage license and rings to ceremony site

v     Make sure best man and maid of honor sign the marriage certificate

v     Have a payment for officiate

v     Have a wonderful day and cherish every special moment! This is the first day of the rest of your lives together! 

 

Post Wedding: 1-3 days

v     Arrange for transport of gifts

v     Return tuxedos/other rented items

v     Have friends or family mail wedding announcements to media

 

 

After the Honeymoon

v     Take wedding gown and veil to a dry cleaner for heirloom preservation

v     Submit name-change forms for driver’s license, passport, Social Security card, state and federal tax boards, banks, credit cards, etc.
